KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Scruffy's Cafe in downtown Knoxville brought in more than just cats on Saturday. They also brought together local small businesses for their 'Feline Lucky Marketplace.'
During the event, customers had the chance to buy everything from homemade goodies to signs and apparel, all while spending time with lovable cats. Scruffy Cafe's owners and workers said that the event was a chance to help other small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they could not pass the opportunity up.
"When you believe in what you're doing, it means so much more," said William Ridenour, a co-owner of the cafe. "So to be able to help out these people who also believe in what they're doing, it means a lot. It really does."
Officials said that they hope to host more marketplace events in the near future, continuing to help small businesses.
The cafe hosts adoptable cats and serves warm drinks, so people can cuddle with kitties while also sipping coffee.
