KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville-based logistics company will spend around $37.9 million on an expansion that includes the construction of a new facility on North Central Street, according to a release from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Axle Logistics is a logistics company, working to help transport materials and products to locations internationally. As part of its expansion, the company is expected to hire 651 people in Knox County over the next five years — tripling the number of employees working for it.
On Tuesday, it also celebrated the groundbreaking of the new facility. Knoxville and Knox County leaders stopped by the groundbreaking site for the ceremony.
"John and Drew could've started this business anywhere, but they chose their hometown to show that there can be high-paying, exciting and dynamic jobs right here in Knoxville. So, that's always been part of the mission," said Ali Fraley, the company's Vice President of Learning and Development.
