An 85-year-old plane made a landing in East Tennessee Thursday, selling rides to aviation fans.
The Ford Motor Triplane came off the assembly line in 1929 and was the first plane ever manufactured in the U.S. with a closed cockpit.
The plane can travel up to 90 miles per hour, which was much faster than travelling in a Ford Model T along dirt roads in 1929.
The plane belongs to a museum in Wisconsin, and the plane's captain says it's important to keep the plane moving so everyone gets a chance to see it.
"If we didn't do this, if I didn't volunteer my time, the airplane would sit in the museum and very few people would see it. We get it out in front of the public, we're in a different city every weekend, we do 30 or 40 rides with it, thousands, tens of thousands of people get to see the airplane, experience the airplane, and it brings back memories," said pilot Colin Soucy.
These planes were the start of Air Mail as people began paying extra to get their letters mailed within days, instead of the months it would take by car or train.
