Pick 'n' Grin closing its doors after 40 years

The Pick 'n' Grin Music Store is making the move to an online store after 40 years in Knoxville.

The Pick 'n' Grin Music Store has brought joy to musicians and music lovers alike for the last 40 years.

Owners Bud Brewster and his daughter Tami have created a lot of memories over that time.

"I've been in the music store so long...40 years I've been here and it's hard for me to see why anybody would just want to hang out here, but they do. They come in two and three hours and sit here."

Sadly, after four decades, the store will be closing its location in West Knoxville. The stress of running a music store coupled with the challenge of Internet dealers is prompting Bud and Tami to move their sales online.

The store will survive through their website www.pickngrin.com.

Bud will miss the store but understands the business is changing. "I have mixed feelings about it, but the world changes and you have to change with it. That's just the way it is. It's been a good ride."

The Pick 'n' Grin will be open through April 25 with many of its instruments on sale. Students who have been taking lessons at the store can continue to do so even after the store closes.
