Remote Area Medical holds free health care clinic for Knoxville pets

The non-profit is focusing its efforts on furry family members with free surgeries, shots, and micro-chipping.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Furry family members got a chance to receive free veterinary care through a Remote Area medical veterinary clinic.

Normally, you know the non-profit for its healthcare for people, but this event was specifically for the pets.

Together with Young-Williams Animal Center and the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, the clinic will provide free spay/neuter surgeries, rabies and distemper vaccinations, microchips, and City of Knoxville tags to area pets.

Last week, at its 1,000th expedition in Knoxville, RAM treated 1,533 patients and registered over 100 dogs and cats for free veterinary services.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Remote Area Medical is embarking on another milestone expedition as people lined up Thursday night for their 1,000th clinic in Knoxville. The non-profit will be holding free mobile medical clinics to provide medical, dental and vision care to those in need. All services provided are free and no ID is required.

Pet owners dropped off their pre-registered pets at Chilhowee Park (near the band stand) on Tuesday, Feb. 12 by 8:15 a.m. to pick them up at 4 p.m.

“RAM has long recognized that pets are an incredibly important part of the family.  We also know how expensive their care can be and that is why we have long strived to include pet care in our offerings of free services,” Remote Area Medical CEO, Jeff Eastman, said.
