KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. Robert "Bob" Booker will be laid to rest this week, according to his obituary.
Booker was one of the most influential people in the history of Knoxville integration and one of the city's greatest scholars. He died last Thursday at the age of 88. You can read more about Booker and his life full of accomplishments at this link.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. will hold an Omega Service on Wednesday at 10 a.m., which will be followed by a funeral service at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Booker will be interred at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery a 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway in Knoxville at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
Booker's family is asking for people to donate to the Beck Cultural Exchange Center or Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in honor of Dr. Booker in lieu of flowers.
