(WBIR) - Stephen Wood has many talents. At his workplace he does construction and maintenance, but in his free time he works on his ninja training.
Stephen was a contestant on the latest season of American Ninja Warrior. It's a show that puts contestants through a grueling physical obstacle course.
Stephen didn't make it through the first stage bu he's determined to train hard for next season. He's so determined that he built his own ninja training course in his back yard.
Making through the course is just another obstacle for Stephen to face. In 2002 Stephen was 13 and living at an orphanage in Ukraine. He was told that he was too old to be adopted and that he would soon be too old for the orphanage. That's when Jim and Susan Wood felt called by God to adopt Stephen and bring him to the United States.
Stephen was brought up at Wears Valley Ranch, a Christian facility that provides homes, education and counseling for children with troubled pasts. Now Stephen spends his time working at the ranch, sharing his testimony with anyone he can and of course training to be the next American Ninja Warrior.
You can catch American Ninja Warrior Mondays and Wednesdays on WBIR.
