Knoxville public pools open just in time for Memorial Day

It's time to dive into summer at the City of Knoxville's pair of public swimming pools.

The Parks and Recreation Department will open the Ed Cothren Pool and Inskip Pool on Saturday at 11 am.

The Ed Cothren Pool is located at 1737 Reynolds St. It has one diving board and an accessible ramp. The surrounding Malcolm Martin Park area features a baseball field, basketball court, concession stands, two playgrounds, three shelters and the 0.3-mile Malcolm Martin Greenway loop.

The Inskip Pool is located 4204 Bruhin Road. If features two low dives and a high dive. The Inskip park area also features a sand volleyball court, concession stands, a playground, three picnic shelters, and a recently finished nine-hole youth disc golf course.

Admission for the pools is $3 per person per visit at Inskip Pool and $2 per person per visit at Ed Cothren Pool.

Pool hours through the summer are: Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 - 6 p.m.

Knoxville Parks and Recreation also offers swimming lessons at both pools during the summer season. Cost per session is $45 for the initial child and $25 for any additional children participating. The first session (eight 45-minute lessons) will be held June 2-June 12.
