Seymour Volunteer Fire Department teams up with Santa Claus for 50th annual 'Seymour Santa Run'

The event was held on the evening of Christmas Eve, and crews brought Santa's helpers around the community on fire trucks.

SEYMOUR, Tenn. — For the 50th year, the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department partnered with Santa Claus for an annual event giving families across the community a chance to meet him.

As part of the annual Seymour Santa Run, families could go to Station 1, located at 101 Ford Hill Lane in Sevier County, and meet with Santa in person. He was there from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m. on Sunday, and after that, families had a chance to meet with some of his helpers who traveled across the community alongside crew members from the fire department.

"I've done it for the last six years, and I look forward to it every year," said one of Santa's helpers.

Santa's helpers rode along in firetrucks, waving to families and wishing the Seymour community holiday cheer before Santa loaded up his sleigh to deliver presents by Christmas morning.

Along the way, Santa's helpers would stop by families and give hugs to people who stopped by to see them. The fire department said ten fire trucks in total brought them around the community.,

"It brings good spirits to see the smiling faces, and to get out of the truck and to talk with people, and to speak with people," said a member of the fire department. "The community loves it. It's just serving, giving back to the community in a different way than just being in an emergency-service type of situation."
