Time is running out to send letters to Santa through special Market Square mailbox

Children of all ages can use the mailbox to send their wishes to Santa Claus.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Time is running out for families to stop by a special mailbox in downtown Knoxville that features express delivery to the North Pole.

The mailbox is designed by a local artist, Paris Woodhull, and children can drop in letters describing their Christmas wishes. Children need to leave their letters in the mailbox before Christmas Eve to make sure they get to Santa in time. No postage is required for letters to be delivered. Kids can also print off a coloring page to write their wishes on.

While downtown, families can also take part in a variety of holiday fun. Through Jan. 7, they will be able to follow a trail of peppermints on the sidewalks of downtown, discovering treats along the way. They will also be able to along an Elf on the Shelf adventure, searching for the elf in more than 24 downtown businesses.

They can also go ice skating at the annual Holidays on Ice skating rink, an open-air ice skating rink set up in the heart of Market Square that gives families a chance to show off their skills to a variety of music.

Some restaurants and bars in the downtown area are also offering holiday specials for anyone who wants to try them.
