KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An annual event that brings an ice skating rink to Market Square will start in around a month, on Nov. 24.
Holidays on Ice gives people a chance to grab their ice skates and head downtown to enjoy circling around the rink while listening to music from DJs. This year, Tuesdays will feature music from different decades. Wednesdays will also feature music from popular artists like Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffet and Dolly Parton.
Fridays and Saturdays will be skate parties when people can listen to music while skating to disco lights.
The regular hours are from 4 p.m. through 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 p.m. through 9 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission costs $12 for adults and $9 for children 12 years old and under. People can also buy season passes for $50 for adults or $35 for children. Holidays on Ice ends on Jan. 2, and the ice skating rink will have special hours posted during holidays. Those special hours are available below.
- Christmas Eve: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Christmas Day: Closed
- December 26: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- New Year's Eve: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- New Year's Day: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

- Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee (Nov. 17, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.): This event offers photos with Santa and holiday-themed fun, such as a Touch-A-Truck and hay rides through decorations and lights.
- Regal Celebration of Lights at Krutch Park (Nov. 24, 5:15 p.m. - 9 p.m.): This event marks the lighting of Knoxville's 42 ft. tall Christmas tree, complete with live music and free activities.
- WIVK Christmas Parade on Gay Street (Dec. 1, 7 p.m.): This annual event brings out dancers, floats, different characters and Santa Claus to parade down Gay Street. It starts on Gay Street intersection with Main Street and ends at Magnolia Avenue.
- Tour de Lights (Dec. 9, 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.): The Tour de Lights brings bikers through the Old City, North Knoxville and downtown areas. Participants are encouraged to decorate themselves and their bikes ahead of the ride, showing off for crowds who watch them ride by.
- New Years Eve at the Sunsphere (Dec. 31, starts at 9 p.m.): This event gives families and friends a chance to bring in 2024 with food trucks and free activities, including a silent disco. The ball will drop from the Sunsphere at midnight.
