An Anderson County newborn decided it was time to enter the world Friday morning and she wasn't waiting for mommy-to-be to get to the hospital.
At around 8:30 a.m., Anderson County deputy Kory Blevins responded to the parking lot of Ciderville Music to help a woman who was in labor. Assistant Chief Robert Sexton was nearby — and it's a good thing he was.
He heard the call go out and immediately started that way to help out.
When they got there, the soon-to-be mother was in active labor. Baby Jade was not waiting.
You guessed it — they delivered her right there in the parking lot.
"Once the baby was born, Deputy Blevins tied off the umbilical cord between the mother and baby until EMS arrived," the sheriff's office said. "We are happy to report both mother and baby Jade are happy and healthy!"
