SEYMOUR, Tenn. — Virginia Sohns, also known as Miss Ginny, just turned 97 years young, and her family, friends and neighbors made sure it was a celebration to remember.
Her daughter, Betsy Elliott, said the whole family always has a big gathering for their matriarch, but this year, they had to get creative.
They put a big sign on her front lawn. Lucy Cantillo Shular of The Sign Gypsies said Miss Ginny is the oldest person they’ve done a sign for.
Then roughly 20 people put on a parade, driving past her Seymour home with signs and balloons to show their love.
Elliott said church friends, family and loved ones have been dropping gifts on her porch all week.
She FaceTimed with kids and grandkids from all across the country who sent her gifts and love as well.
Elliott said Miss Ginny is always serving others and has been helping two of her daughters and a daughter-in-law make masks for the medical folks in their family and for others. She has cut loose threads from at least 200 masks.
"Still independent, feisty, loves others so much and is an amazing example to all her family," said her granddaughter, Brooke Foulk.
Here's to you and your 97 years, Miss Ginny!
