Care Cuts, bagpiper bring joy to homeless with free meals, songs

Care Cuts gives hair cuts to the homeless downtown, but on Sunday, they were giving away food to those in need.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sunday was the fourth anniversary of Care Cuts in Knoxville.

Care Cuts gives hair cuts to the homeless downtown, but on Sunday, they were giving away food to those in need.

Each Sunday, they gather to give food, but on April 5, they were joined by a bagpipe player to provide some inspiration to those in attendance.

Marti Baker knows that sometimes the volunteers feel the blessing almost as much as the people they're helping.

"When they come, they go to help but they leave here blessed and they wind up thinking of that person all week long, praying for that person. and it just gives them hope that you can help them," founder Marti Baker said.

Over 300 meals were given out Sunday afternoon.
