Toll House Cookies
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugars until smooth.
Add vanilla.
Add eggs one at a time mixing until smooth before adding second egg.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add to creamed mixture and mix until no flour is visible.
Add chocolate chips and fold into batter until evenly distributed.
Drop by rounded tablespoon or cookie scoop, leaving at least 2 inches of space between cookies.
Bake for approximately 12 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are not shiny.
Smitten Kitchen Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 cups semisweet chocolate
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Combine sugars and melted butter and mix until all butter is absorbed into sugar. It will be smooth and shiny like thick caramel.
Add vanilla.
Add egg and mix until smooth.
Add egg yolk and mix until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add to creamed mixture and mix until smooth.
Add chocolate chips and mix until evenly distributed.
Drop by rounded tablespoon or cookie scoop, leaving at least 3 inches of space between cookies. These cookies spread a lot.
Bake for approximately 12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
