(WBIR) A first-of-its-kind German restaurant opened in Powell Friday
Grujo's German Restaurant located off Emory Road specializes in German street food and beer.
The owner served in the military in Germany and says he needed to bring that taste back home.
"I served in the U.S. military for 6 years active duty. I was stationed a lot of that time in Germany.Met my wife who is a German Citizen. We immigrated back to America and we always missed some of the German fast food: the doner kebab, the currywurst, the schnitzel. So we decided we were going to bring that to the Knoxville area," said T.J. Jones
Grujo's is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and stays open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
