PetSafe Village creates 'Monster Dog Makeover' contest

Knoxville pet spa/resort offers free dog training lessons to winning video submission.
The pet resort/spa is hosting a contest for the public.

(WBIR-Knoxville) If your dog has a bad habit it needs to break, PetSafe Village is looking for you.

"The reason we came up with the contest is to allow folks the ability to interact with us through social media, allow them the chance to win something based on their dog's poor behavior and hopefully get that corrected for them," said Mike Shafer, a dog trainer at PetSafe Village.

The contest is called Monster Dog Makeover. PetSafe Village is asking dog owners to upload a one-minute video of their canine's monstrous behavior to the PetSafe Village Facebook page. The winner will be determined by the number of "likes" obtained by the video. Participants are encouraged to invite friends to become fans of the Facebook page to vote.

First Place: Free PetSafe Unleashed Program

Second Place: 3 Free Private Training Lessons

Third Place: 1 Free Private Training Lesson

[ID=2829081]Shafer described the Unleashed Program, "They stay here for four weeks. I do all of the training. They are trained off-leash. I bring the owners in and transition the dog back to the owner's control. While they're here, they get to participate in our day camp and stay in our luxury suites."

The first place prize is valued at over $2,100.

Several rules do apply. Detailed information is located on PetSafe Village's website.

Video entries may be uploaded under the "Monster Dog Makeover" section on PetSafe Village's Facebook page.

"If you cannot load it directly to the Facebook page, upload it to YouTube and then paste the YouTube link into the Facebook comment section and we can edit it from there," Shafer said.

The Monster Dog Makeover contest is open from September 3, 2013 to October 28, 2013.
