Happening tonight: First blind veteran to climb Mount Everest stops in Knoxville to share his experience

Lonnie Bedwell hopes to inspire others to live life to the fullest and encourages them to take on new challenges.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Lonnie Bedwell, the first blind veteran to climb Mount Everest, will be in Knoxville on Thursday, Oct. 26 to share his experience and speak about his journey to the tallest point on Earth.

He will be joined by Bryan Hill, a Knoxville native and University of Tennessee graduate, who helped guide Bedwell along the way.

Bedwell and Hill are working together through the organization Sightless Summits to inspire others to live life to the fullest, they said. The goal of Sightless Summits is to "inspire and encourage disabled veterans and children to take on new challenges."

The event takes place at The Square Room in downtown Knoxville from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets can be found here.
