BOSTON, Massachusetts — Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol will play at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre this holiday season from Dec. 3-29.
Last year, Parton worked with the musical's book writer David H. Bell and musical directors Paul T. Couch and Curt Wollan to create an adaptation of Charles Dickens', "A Christmas Carol."
The musical is set during the 1930s and takes character Ebenezer Scrooge on a new adventure in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Parton said the premise came from a Christmas show that took place at her Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
The musical will feature an original score by Parton herself.
