Beardsley Farm close to reaching its goal for annual Snow Day fundraiser

The community farm is just a couple of thousands of dollars short of its goal, as it goes into the final weekend of its 'Snow Day' fundraiser

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Beardsley Farm's month-long Snow Day Fundraiser is coming to a close.

"It's our biggest fundraiser of the year," Co-Director Charlotte Rodina said.

In place of the traditional one-night event at the Mill & Mine, Rodina said they organized three weeks of soup tastings at participating restaurants and an online auction.

"We are very close to reaching our fundraising goal. We're about $2,000 away from what we make in a typical year. So, I encourage you to check out our silent auction. There's a lot of really great items from local Knoxville businesses," Rodina said.

The auction closes Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at 10 p.m.

It features dozens of items from Knoxville businesses as well as unique, one-of-a-kind items. All of the proceeds support Beardsley Community Farm's mission.

The organization is an urban community farm that works to promote food security and sustainable agriculture. It has increased access to fresh foods in food deserts across Knoxville by donating produce, hosting educational programs and encouraging community gardening.
