KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — While human families gathered around Christmas trees and tore open gifts, families at Zoo Knoxville did the same on Christmas Day.
Zoo Knoxville shared videos of Stevie the Chimp opening gifts with the rest of her family Monday morning. While she played with strings of paper and hay, her family explored parge boxes and enjoyed holiday treats of vegetables.
Meanwhile, some of the bears at Zoo Knoxville gnawed on a Christmas tree and tossed it around their enclosure.
"Merry Christmas from Zoo Knoxville! We hope you are having a wonderful day and getting to open some gifts like Stevie the Chimp and our other apes. And hopefully, your kids aren't chewing on the Christmas tree like our black bears Fin and Monty," Zoo Knoxville said on social media.
