A singer from Dandridge turned a few heads (and chairs) Monday night during Monday night's blind auditions on NBC's 'The Voice.'
Singer Sara Collins, an 18-year-old native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, recently moved to East Tennessee with her family after graduating and has been performing at venues like Blake Shelton's Ole Red in Gatlinburg.
On Monday, Collins stunned judges with her performance of Heidi Newfield's song "Johnny and June." You can watch her performance here.
Given her ties with Shelton and her country music background, it would only seem natural that Team Blake would have hit the button, right?
In this case, Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas were actually the ones making their case to have Sara represent them on their teams. It was a tough decision for Sara.
"Man... both of you guys are so much a part of my childhood," she said. "But I gotta go with Kelly."
Clarkson seemed quite pleased to have Sara on board.
Named after the Fleetwood Mac song "Sara," she said when she's not singing -- she's spending her days tubing on the lake with her family and writing from her balcony, saying she pulls inspiration from the beautiful views of the Smokies.
Her big claim to fame is her ongoing gig at Shelton’s own Ole Red in Gatlinburg. She's was recently named Ole Red's artist of the month and has plenty of performances lined up for March, including one on March 5 at 8 p.m.
She hopes that 'The Voice' is her first big chance to stand out and show her hero Blake what she has to offer.
'The Voice' airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on WBIR and other NBC stations.
East Tennessee has seen plenty of success on the show, most recently when Knoxville singer Chris Blue wowed his way to become the season 12 winner in 2017.
