Urban League hosting free community health event on Saturday, offering screenings and more

The Knoxville Area Urban League is hosting its second annual free community health event on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Area Urban League is hosting a free community event focused on helping people stay healthy.

The second annual free community health event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Urban League's offices, located at 1514 E. Fifth Ave. Organizers are also bringing out the University of Tennessee Medical Center's Mobile Mammography Unit, available by appointment only. People can also call 865-305-4970 to schedule Well Child Visits and Adult Visits at the community health event.

Anyone who stops by the event will be able to get COPD lung screenings, blood pressure screenings, visceral fat measurements and carotid ultrasounds. Attendees will also be able to ask pharmacists questions about their medications.

Dr. Rocio Huet and an integrative health team will be available to provide wellness information, and people will be able to learn about heart health from Dr. Emmanuel Isang. People will also be able to explore job opportunities at UT Medical Center.

The event will continue until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
