KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Thursday, people will gather in World's Fair Park for an annual Hanukkah celebration organized by Chabad of Knoxville. It's named "Unite Through Light: In Solidarity with our Brothers and Sisters in Israel."
The group has hosted menorah lightings and community celebrations since 2001, according to organizers. This year, the group said it is hosting a concert by Nissim Black, a rap artist who lives in Jerusalem. It also said the concert was organized with support from Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon.
Organizers said the event is meant to celebrate diversity and foster unity, while also sharing Jewish traditions with the wider Knoxville community.
"Unite Through Light will also have kosher Israeli food for purchase and many other fun and cultural opportunities for Knoxville-area families. From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. kids can enjoy inflatables, games, and crafts," organizers said.
Pre-concert events start at 5 p.m. in World's Fair Park before a menorah lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Black's concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Organizers said the event is free and open to the public, but VIP seating is available for $36.
Dinners prepared by a chef from Potchke, a Jewish restaurant in Knoxville, will also be available for $28. Dinners include chicken shawarma, an Israeli salad, hummus, pita, dessert and a drink. Attendees can order dinners online.
