Townsend community comes out to celebrate second annual Oktoberfest

People came out to celebrate the honored German tradition centered around food, fun and drinks.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In Townsend, it's Oktoberfest!

Peaceful Side Social hosted the town's second celebration of German culture. People raised their beer steins and sampled Bavarian cuisine and drinks for free.

The brewery had local beers for people to sample, games and live music. Local brewers said the turnout was great this year.

"The atmosphere is fabulous, I'm so glad that the Chatanooga band is up here with the Chatanooga Brewing Company as well, I love it," Carolyn Foley, from the Wanderlinger Brewing Company, said. " I love the family aspect, there's tons of kids, the dogs being here, is always a plus, cause who doesn't love the little puppers."

Even when the rain poured, that didn't stop people from turning out. Organizers also hosted a steinholding contest, trying to see how long people can hold a full beer stein.
