KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Baseball has been America's game for more than a century and a half. During that time, the rules and strategies of the game have changed — and so have the equipment, uniforms and far more.
On June 15 and June 22, the Ramsey House museum will give people a chance to watch a historic reenactment of a baseball game as it was played in 1864. Teams will turn out in period-appropriate uniforms, with Knoxville teams bearing the actual names of teams that played at around that time.
The Knoxville Holstons and Emmett's Machinists will play during the games, taking on other vintage league teams from around the state. Attendees also won't need an 1864-style ticket to watch the game — admission is free.
Concessions will be available. The first game will be on June 15 at 11 a.m. and the next will be on June 22 at 1 p.m.
