(WBIR) Memorial Day is a time when communities reflect on men and women who have died protecting our country. Below is a list of events scheduled Monday to honor their memory.
Monday, May 26
East Tennessee Military Affairs Council Reading of the Names
- Begins at 6:00 a.m.
- Veterans Memorial at World's Fair Park
- 6000+ names of fallen veterans will be read throughout the morning.

Knox County Memorial Day Service
- 2 pm
- East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetary
- 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville
Sevier County High School Memorial Day 5K
- 8:00 a.m.
- Sevier County High School, 1200 Dolly Parton Pkwy, Sevierville
- A $30 fee required to participate. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Cumberland County Memorial Day Ceremony
- 9:30 a.m.
- Cumberland County War Memorial
- The ceremony will include a wreath laying, bell ceremony, guest speakers, and performances of patriotic songs by Cumberland County Band.

Broadway Towers Veterans Gathering
- 3:00 p.m.
- Broadway Towers Apartments, 1508 McCroskey Ave, Knoxville
- Veterans will share their stories and pictures. Cake and ice cream will be provided.

Oak Ridge Community Band Memorial Day Concert

- AK Bissell Park, 1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike
- The concert will be dedicated to US military veterans and those currently serving in the Armed Forces.
