Community to celebrate Happy Holler neighborhood with Holleroo Festival

The festival is a family-friendly event featuring live music, local artisans, food vendors and a soapbox derby race down North Central Street.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Get ready to rev your engines for an electrifying day in the Happy Holler neighborhood!

Holleroo is a free festival that highlights the neighborhood. It will be on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on North Central Street between Scott and Baxter Avenues.

It's a family-friendly event featuring live music, local artisans, food vendors and a soapbox derby race down North Central Street.

"We wanted to create an event that brings the community together to celebrate everything that makes Happy Holler special," Rusty Odom, co-organizer of Holleroo, said. "From the historic homes to the local businesses, this neighborhood oozes heart and soul. Holleroo is all about showcasing that."

A soapbox derby viewing area will be in The Brookside parking lot. After the derby, the area will transform into a music venue where Sarrenna, Dos Fuegos and Dishwater Blonde will perform, according to a release.

Local vendors will line the street, selling handcrafted goods, art, clothing and more. A variety of food options will also be on-site and alcoholic beverages will be available to those 21 and older throughout the day.

North Central Street will be closed to traffic during the event.
