HOLA Lakeway's food festival to return to downtown Morristown on Aug. 31

The Lakeway International Food Festival is set to return to Morristown's Downtown Green and Farmers' Market on Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — A popular Morristown food festival is set to return on Aug. 31, bringing out a variety of performers and activities along with the usual feast of different cuisines from across the world.

HOLA Lakeway said its Lakeway International Food Festival would return from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. at Morristown's Downtown Green and Farmers' Market. It is free to attend and there will be food vendors from Honduras, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, Columbia, San Salvador and Venezuela.

A variety of bands will also be at the festival, such as Rica Chica and Candela Knox. Rica Chica is a Knoxville-based band that fuses psychedelic cumbia with Appalachian music, and Candela Knox is a salsa jazz band from Knoxville. "Drums Up, Guns Down" will also bring African dance and drum performances, while Corazon Alegre will bring dances dating back to an indigenous group from Michoacán.

At least eight groups and performers are set to appear during the festival. HOLA said in a release that it aims to foster community bonds and support local businesses, bringing together residents and visitors.
