'First Friday Block Party' to kick off on Gay Street on June 7, hosted by the Arts and Culture Alliance

Gay Street between Jackson Avenue and Vine Avenue will only be open to pedestrians from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A new event is set to start on Friday along a popular stretch of Gay Street — the First Friday Block Party.

It will be between Vine Avenue and Jackson Avenue from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m., hosted by the Arts and Culture Alliance. The event brings together several artists, featuring a variety of artist vendors and live music outside the Arts and Culture Alliance facility.

No street parking will be allowed along the stretch of Gay Street starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, and only pedestrians will be allowed on the road between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The event effectively kicks off the alliance's June exhibitions, on display through June 28. The Emporium Center is open to the public on Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.
