KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — During this Breast Cancer Awareness Month you can support Komen East Tennessee's Community Grants Program.
All you have to do is eat out! Restaurants participate in "Dine Out for the Cure" in different ways. Some sell pink menu items then donate the proceeds. Others encourages customers to add a donation to their bill.
While some sell gift cards then donate a certain amount to Komen. And some give a percentage of all sales during a particular time. For example, McAlister's Deli locations will donate 10% of sales this Monday.
"Most people are impacted by breast cancer. In fact, my neighbor was recenlty diagnosed with breast cancer. So it's something that is important to us and me individually and something that really can benefit the entire community," McAlister's Owner Jeff Shawl said.
The restaurants participating in Dine Out for the Cure later this month are TGI-Fridays, Jason's Deli, Petro's, Uncle Maddio's Pizza and Archer's Bar-be-que.
