It may almost be the year 2018, but Knox Heritage is hosting a glitzy New Year's Eve gala and dinner that will have you feeling like it's 1890.
The glittery affair raises money for Historic Westwood's capital campaign to permanently secure the house as the Regional Center for Preservation Education.
New Year's soirees have been a part of Westwood since John and Adelia Lutz moved into the home in late 1890 after it was built.
The Knoxville Tribune reported on Jan. 2, 1891: “Westwood, the beautiful suburban residence of Mrs. J.E. Lutz, Kingston Road was the scene of much real pleasure from 6 to 11 p.m. last night. It was the first “New Year's” in this elegant new home and the occasion was one of the unusual pleasures for that reason…”
