KNOXVILLE, Tenn — As the city begins to light up for Christmas, stores are getting ready for the busiest time of the year.
For Stanley's Greenhouse, that means selling a whole bunch of Christmas flowers. They grow 45,000 Poinsettias for the Christmas season.
"They change color based on the day, they aren't even fully bloomed yet but you can see how beautiful they already are. They make it really magical around here," manager Abby Stanley said.
The greenhouse allows local small businesses to come in and sell their products every weekend from the end of November up until Christmas, something they say is done in the holiday spirit.
"You're putting food on the table for your neighbor not some CEO of a company. It's so important to support your local economy during a busy spending season," Stanley said.
Lakeshore Park is ringing in the season with their annual "Light up Lakeshore Christmas" event. Natalie Fei braved the rain with her two kids to see the park trees lit up Sunday evening.
"Events like these are so cool because there's something for everyone. Mom can go shopping and eat, but the kids get to do some arts and crafts," Fei said.
As we head into December, more Christmas fun in Knoxville is sure to be had.
