The USA women's basketball team will be going after their 6th straight gold medal in Rio. Two of the teams stars both played at UConn and are now playing together in Seattle, but one is nearing the end of her career, while the other is just getting started.

It's the home opener for the Storm, nothing new for 9-time all-star Sue Bird who began her career in Seattle in 2002.

It's a different story for Breanna Stewart. Just a WNBA rookie, she will be playing in her first Olympics.

"Playing in the Olympics, being a part of that national team with Sue with all the other vets, people who are going for their fourth gold medal, it's a huge honor," said Stewart.

This will be Bird's fourth Olympic games.

She is one of just nine women to win an Olympic gold medal, an NCAA Championship and a WNBA Championship.

At the age of 35, Bird has yet to announce or even speak about plans of retiring. While she may have a few more years left with the Storm, this will be her last run with Team USA

"To be able to have USA on your chest and know what that represents, what that means, to be selected as one of the top 12 in country is pretty insane in a lot of ways,” Bird said. “It's exciting and I'm looking forward to it.”

Bird is also excited to share the experience with her 21-year-old teammate.

"It's going to be incredible, it's all going to be new," said Bird.

"She is someone I can go to if I have questions," said Stewart.

"Walking in for the first time and hearing them announce the United States, the crowd goes insane, and the roar is just, you can feel it. It's intense," said Bird.

It's something you just can't practice for.

“They're not easy games and people should know we don't get the training time," said Bird.

They've won six NCAA titles between them at UConn.
