Mike Tirico photobombs reporter at the Olympics

You never know what to expect on live television even if it includes getting photobombed by one of America's most well-known sportscasters.

NBC Sports' Mike Tirico photobombs WBIR's Robin Wilhoit during a 6 p.m. liveshot.

You never know what to expect on live television even if it includes getting photobombed by one of America's most well-known sportscasters.

WBIR's Robin Wilhoit was reporting live from Rio discussing the day's Olympic events for the 6 p.m. news.

During her report, NBC Sports' Mike Tirico walked by and waved at the camera. The coincidental occurrence has already received over 24,000 views on Facebook.

After Wilhoit finished her report, her photographer told her about what happened behind her.

According to fellow reporter Jim Matheny, some viewers have characterized Wilhoit's reaction as "being clueless about who Mike Tirico is."

Matheny set the record straight in his posting of the video saying, "she knows who he is and even did a story about him wearing clothes made in Cleveland, TN. It was a surreal moment of pause for 3 seconds immediately after being cleared from a live TV hit, because it never occurred to her in a million years that's who would be photobombing our liveshot."

This year's Olympics mark the first time Tirico has covered the spectacle after joining NBC in July.

The television veteran was recently the butt of some jokes on "Today" after host Al Roker called Tirico his stunt double.

Roker met his 'nemesis' after arriving in Rio earlier this week.
