Michael Phelps shared an adorable moment with his baby son after clinching the 20th gold medal of his illustrious Olympic career.
Phelps clinched victory in the 200-meter butterfly on Tuesday night, holding off the challenge of silver medalist Masato Sakai of Japan and Hungary’s Tamas Kenderesi, who placed third.
Following the victory ceremony, Phelps walked around to the side of the pool to embrace first his fiancée, Nicole Johnson, and then his mother, Debbie.
He then picked up his 3-month-old baby, Boomer, lifted him over the barrier, and gently placed a kiss on each cheek while a throng of photographers clustered to get a snap of the delightful moment.
Meanwhile, a crowd of American athletes nearby, led by the United States men’s basketball team, cheered and applauded.
Boomer must have wondered what all the fuss was about as he spent the evening with his mother, in a red, white and blue baby carrier with the initials “MP” emblazoned upon it.
