Need to know: Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech

Tennessee will play Georgia Tech on Labor Day, Sept. 4, in the the sold-out Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

It's finally football time in Tennessee, though Vol fans will have to wait a few extra days to see the Big Orange take the field for the 2017 season.

Tennessee will play Georgia Tech on Labor Day, Sept. 4, in the the sold-out Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The game will be televised at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Tennessee and Georgia Tech have faced off 43 times with the Vols leading the series 24-17-2. UT has won the last five games, including their last meeting in 1987 when the Vols took a 29-15 win over the Yellow Jackets in Neyland Stadium.

Before the game, Tennessee fans are invited to the Big Orange Caravan at the Georgia World Congress Center from 3-7 p.m. IT's free for anyone with a game ticket and kids under 5. If you aren't going to the game, you can still enjoy the pregame festivities for $15.

The Pride of the Southland Marching Band is expected to lead a brief Tennessee pep rally at 5:45. There will also be games, a prize wheel, photo stations, and special guests.

Also be aware, just like at Neyland Stadium, there is a clear bag policy at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Fans can carry in clear plastic, vinyl or PVC that are not larger than 12” x 6” x 12.” A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag would also be allowed, or a small clutch bag no larger than 4.5 x 6.5.
