Human remains found by teenager in Kentucky identified

The teen was riding a four-wheeler when he happened upon the remains.

Human remains found by a teenager in Knox County, Kentucky, on Monday night were identified Wednesday, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.

The remains were positively identified as those of Adam Keith Pinkley, 34, due to a pacemaker found at the scene. Pinkley, a resident of Corbin, had been reported missing to the Laurel County Sheriff's Department in June.

The 15-year-old found Pinkley's remains while four-wheeling in a wooded area off of Garland Cemetery Road in the Gray community, at which point the authorities were notified, the release said.

The State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort conducted an autopsy Tuesday morning, according to the release, after State Police had been collecting evidence on the scene throughout Monday night.

"At this time KSP is actively working a death investigation," the release said. "Detectives are also continuing to investigate the cause of death and how the remains ended up in the wooded area."
