Lottery winner chooses second act: Walmart greeter

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — A Piedmont woman who scratched off a $250,000 lottery win plans to retire within a year and do what she's always wanted — be a greeter at Walmart.

“I don’t know why, but all my life I’ve wanted to work at Walmart,” she told South Carolina lottery officials Friday. “I think it would be fun to try.”

The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, bought the Money Money Money scratch-off from the Stop-A-Minit #16 in Simpsonville while out running errands, lottery officials said.

She waited until she got home and turned on her favorite show, The Doctors, before she scratched off the $250,000 win.

“I sat back and closed my eyes,” she said.

As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, lottery officials said one top prize of $250,000 remained in the $10 Money Money Money game. The odds of winning $250,000 are 1 in 696,000.

Stop-A-Minit #16 in Simpsonville received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket, lottery officials said.
