Two remaining fugitive inmates caught in San Francisco

The last two fugitives from a trio of inmates who escaped from a California jail last week were arrested Saturday in San Francisco after a citizen flagged down a police officer and pointed out their white getaway van in a Whole Foods parking lot, authorities said. Jonathan Tieu, 20, of Fountain Valley, and Hossein Nayeri, 37, of Newport Beach, were taken into custody a day after fellow escapee, Bac Duong, 43, surrendered to a civilian on a Santa Ana street. Now the focus will turn to how the three were able to saw, crawl and climb their way out of a maximum-security facility.

Two Virginia Tech students charged in death of missing teen

Two Virginia Tech students face charges in connection with the death of a local teen who had been missing since Wednesday. The body of Nicole Madison Lovell, 13, was found late Saturday along a highway in Surry County, N.C., which is about 80 miles from Blacksburg, Va., home to Virginia Tech. Earlier Saturday, police arrested David E. Eisenhauer, 18, for felony abduction in connection with Lovell's disappearance, police said. After Nicole's body was found, Eisenhauer was charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond. On Sunday, police arrested Tech sophomore Natalie Keepers, 19, on one felony count of improper disposal of a dead body and one misdemeanor count of accessory after the fact in the commission of a felony.

Police look into incident involving Johnny Manziel and ex-girlfriend

Police in Fort Worth, Texas, filed a report Saturday after receiving a call about a disturbance involving Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and a woman who described herself to officers as his ex-girlfriend. Fort Worth police said a preliminary investigation determined that a possible assault might have occurred in Dallas, but that is not their jurisdiction. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told USA TODAY Sports the NFL was aware of Manziel’s latest incident and was looking into it. Manziel, the No. 22 pick in the 2014 draft, spent more than 10 weeks in a rehab center that specializes in drug and alcohol treatment last year after a rocky rookie season.

Police: 1 dead, seven wounded at Denver motorcycle event

Police say one person is dead and seven were wounded Saturday afternoon in a shooting and stabbing near the Denver Coliseum. The Colorado Motorcycle Expo was being held in the area and will be canceled Sunday. Police declined to name any specific groups or gangs involved in the incident, but acknowledged the event is a gathering place for nationally chartered motorcycle organizations. No arrests have been made, but police are interviewing witnesses and a "person of interest."
