Looking for a new pet to help you ring in 2018? Young-Williams Animal Center is adopting out most animals for free right now up until the ball drops!

YWAC said it's offering free pet adoptions, excluding puppies, starting Wednesday, Dec. 27 and lasting until Dec. 31 at both shelter locations and the Bearden Petco and Pet Supermarket.

The free adoptions are just for adult dogs, cats and kittens. Puppies are still available for adoption, but if you're heart is set on one you will need to pay the standard $250 adoption fee.

“Our New Year's resolution is to end 'pet-lessness' and find a home for so many deserving animals,” said Janet Testerman, CEO of Young-Williams Animal Center. “That's why we are ending 2017 with a free adoption event to encourage our community members to rescue a new companion before the end of the year.”

All free adoptions will include the standard services that come with normal adoptions, including a vet exam, spay/neuter, standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more.YWAC said the special was made possible by a grant from the Petco Foundation.

Applications will need to be submitted by 5:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The facilities are open during regular business hours from noon to 6 p.m.

  • Young-Williams Animal Village: 6400 Kingston Pike on Bearden Hill
