NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Senator Steve Southerland (R - Morristown), experienced a "medical emergency" while in the Senate Chamber on Monday.
The senator, who represents parts of Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Sevier and Unicoi counties, was looked at by doctors after a recess was called. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.
"We took a recess so our doctors could assist. We are all praying for his speedy and full recovery," Senator Jon Lundberg (R - Bristol) said.
