One person died in a house fire and one person was transported to UT Medical Center Friday night, according to Captain Jeff McCarter with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.
The house fire happened off of Dixon Branch Road in Sevier County, McCarter said.
An elderly woman died in the fire. An autopsy will be performed to verify the identity and cause of death. The condition of the man transported to UT Medical is unknown at this time.
The sheriff's office says it is working with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Arson Division to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
