Ross Harris sobs as medical examiner testifies about son's hot car death

The Ross Harris hot car death trial enters eighth day.

The father on trial in the hot car death of his young son visibly sobbed as jurors heard testimony from the medical examiner on Tuesday.

Ross Harris is facing multiple charges, including malice murder and felony murder, in the death of his young son, Cooper. The 22-month-old was found in the back seat of his father's SUV in June 2014. Harris maintains it was a tragic accident.

On the stand Tuesday, former Cobb County Chief Medical Examiner Brian Frist described Cooper's condition during the autopsy as well as the possible stages he went through before he slowly died in his father's car.

"Even at his young age, he would have had anxiety because he's been in a car seat before and he's just strapped in there and he probably would have struggled as he was becoming more and more uncomfortable," Frist said.

During his testimony Harris was seen openly sobbing several time,s including when Frist said that it's possible Cooper could have been alive at lunchtime.

As the jury was shown pictures of Cooper's body during his autopsy, another juror also seemed visibly upset.

In later testimony, jurors were shown surveillance footage showing Harris pull into the parking lot at his office, backing up and pulling into a spot at 9:25 a.m. on June 18.

The defense pointed out that after Harris walked away, other people walked by the vehicle without pausing or stopping.

Video was also shown of Harris returning after lunch to drop off lightbulbs into his SUVs. A Home Depot security expert said it didn't appear that Harris ever put his head below the car's roof line.

More surveillance video and enchanced video is expected to be shown in court on Wednesday.
