Students and staff at Rockford Elementary School are safe after a gas leak was detected at the building.
According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the building was evacuated Thursday morning while fire and utility crews worked to find and fix the leak.
Students were taken to Riverview Baptist Church on Cedar Street. As of 9:30 a.m., the crews were still working to find and fix the leak.
