The Sevier County animal shelter, Pets Without Parents, will cease all operations on July 1, according to a board member with Pets Without Parents.
It's not exactly clear at this time why the shelter is ceasing all operations on this date.
The shelter was established in 2011 as a non-profit to help find forever homes for cats and dogs.
Back in April, the shelter responded to dozens of social media posts claiming the shelter would be euthanizing dozens of dogs and cats.
The shelter said its board of directors decided the shelter would need to euthanize a group of sick cats that had populated the shelter's intake area for months, but said claims that multitudes of cats and dogs being euthanized indiscriminately were false.
