East Tennesseans chipped in to help the needy for Thanksgiving on Saturday.
The Porsche Club of America hosted their first ever "Turkeys in the Truck" charity event. The event will help provide the Salvation Army and Knox Area Rescue Ministries as they begin to collect food for the Thanksgiving season.
One leader of the group says the idea came from another leader in Norfolk, Va. He decided it sounded like a good idea and for a good cause.
"I talked with the coordinator up there, and she was my inspiration," Robert Baugh, the charity coordinator, said.
Baugh also said 'tis the season to give back to the community.
"We need to do more for the community. We are blessed to live in East Tennessee and to play with the cars we play with," Baugh said. "It's just a great time to give back to the community."
Throughout Saturday's fundraiser, the group received about 2,000 pounds of donated foods.
