The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating a car accident involving two trucks that left one person dead on Saturday morning.

Deputies say the wreck happened at the intersection of Rutledge Pike and Old Rutledge Pike around 11 a.m.

Deputies say 69-year-old John Ayers was driving his pickup truck northbound on Rutledge Pike when he veered off the road. Deputies say his truck hit another truck, a Dodge Ranger, sitting at the intersection.

Deputies say the driver of the truck sitting at the intersection, 63-year-old Malcom Grey III, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators with Knox Co. Sheriff's Office say a medical condition may have caused Ayers to veer off the road. Deputies say Ayers was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

KCSO say charges are pending as the investigation continues.
