Ober closes slopes for the season

Ober had to close the slopes earlier than expected because of a sustained period of spring-like weather.

Sunday was the last day slopes were open for skiers and snowboarders at Ober Gatlinburg.

Due to the recent stint of rain and unseasonably warm temperatures, the attraction decided to finish out the season early. Temperatures were also too warm for snow-making and they said they cannot keep the slopes maintained much longer.

The Ober teams said they are thankful for the early season that began in January and the ability to be 100% open through all of January and into February.

The slopes were open Sunday night until 10 p.m Other winter attractions at Ober, like skating and snow tubing are still open. The last day for tubing will be Easter Sunday on April 1st.

Note: Ober will not be open for an 11 day period from April 23 - May 3rd for annual maintenance.
