'Moms Demand Action' group to hold Sandy Hook remembrance vigil in Knoxville

A group called Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will hold a remembrance of the five-year mark of the Sandy Hook Elementary school tragedy.

The remembrance will also be for the 500,000 American victims and survivors of gun violence since December 2012.

The "Honor with Action: 5 Years Since Sandy Hook" event will be part of a nationwide tribute of 200 events across the country.

The event is set for Thursday, Dec. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the YWCA located at 420 Clinch Avenue in Knoxville.

According to a release, names of the Sandy Hook victims and local gun violence victims will be read. Participants will write care cards and fold paper cranes for survivors or gun violence victims as well.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots movement of American mothers fighting for public safety measures that respect the Second Amendment and protect people from gun violence.
